Adult Learners

Students born before July 1, 2006 are considered Adult Learners.

Our courses are best suited for students who have a facility with the English language. Students still learning English are encouraged to enroll in a classroom-based course.

If you are a previous student of New Westminster Online Learning, we still require a new registration package (including ID) for this school year. 

You must send in the current year’s form. Do not use old forms. 

 Please read the instructions carefully to avoid delay in your registration. 

  1. To register, first check the course list to make sure the course(s) you would like are available and that you meet the prerequisites.  If you are not sure which courses you need, please request an advisory on your form.  If you have not attended school in Canada, you will be scheduled to write an in-person assessment.
  2. Next, download the Adult Registration Form, save it, and fill it in.
  3. Include your ID documents as an attachment along with the registration form and any other relevant documents (ie. transcripts).  Please do not paste the ID documents in the body of the email.  We will accept only clear scans or photos.  Note: We cannot open HEIC files.
  4. Send your completed registration form and the documents as email attachments to onlinelearning@sd40.bc.ca, using the subject line: E-registration – your last name, your first name
  5. Provided the information is complete and the correct documentation is provided, you can expect an email confirmation and login instructions within 1-2 weeks.

IMPORTANT! – Before you send your email:

  • Be sure you have reviewed our FAQ to ensure our school is the right fit for you: https://newwestonlinelearning.ca/faq/.
  • Be sure to include all the required ID documents in your registration email.  You should be submitting three in total, and at least one photo ID is required.  The photos or scans must be clear and large enough to read.  The address on your ID must be your current address and must match the address on your registration form: https://newwestonlinelearning.ca/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/Adult-Learner-Documentation-Requirements-23-24.pdf.
  • Incomplete registration emails will not be processed, and you will be asked to send in a new registration email. We will not hold incomplete registrations in queue.
  • Registrations are processed in the order they are received.
  • Do not send your registration package in more than once.
  • Please allow 1-2 weeks for processing.
  • Students who require an assessment will be charged a $25 assessment fee.  This fee is non-refundable.

THE CURRENT PROCESSING TIME IS APPROXIMATELY 2 WEEKS.
